The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Cheat Codes

19 cheat codes for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on Switch.

Weapon Duplication Glitch (Specific Versions) (Weapons)

Duplicate valuable weapons, bows, or shields by exploiting menu handling errors.

Menu Manipulation

This glitch relies on specific game versions (e.g., 1.1.2 or earlier). The general method involves dropping an equipped item, quickly entering the inventory menu, equipping another item, and dropping that, causing the first item to reappear duplicated. Exact steps vary by item and game version.

Amiibo Item Drops (Requires Amiibo or Spoofing) (Weapons)

Summon valuable items, weapons, rupees, and even unique armor sets daily.

Amiibo Scan

Enable Amiibo functionality in game settings. Use the Amiibo rune ability and scan a compatible Amiibo figure (or an NFC spoofing device) to make chests and items appear in front of Link.

Item Duplication (Menu Overload) (Weapons)

Duplicates any weapon, shield, bow, or material by overloading the game's menu, allowing for an unlimited supply of gear, rare items, or resources.

Glitched Sequence

1. Obtain at least 5 different multi-effect meals (e.g., meals that boost attack and defense). 2. Manually save your game in an open area. 3. Open your inventory, go to the food tab. 4. Rapidly select and 'Eat' one of the multi-effect meals, then immediately press '+' to reopen the menu. Repeat this process very quickly, eating around 21+ meals in a few seconds. The goal is to eat meals faster than the game can process the stat boosts. 5. If successful, the game's menu will enter an 'overloaded' state (often indicated by the camera being stuck, or items behaving strangely). 6. While in this state, drop the weapon, shield, bow, or material you wish to duplicate. 7. Load your most recent manual save. The dropped item will remain on the ground in your reloaded game, and you'll still have the original item in your inventory. Note: Timing is crucial for the menu overload. Experiment with the speed of eating and menu reopening.

Infinite Sprint (Shield Block Bow Spin) (Misc)

Allows Link to sprint indefinitely without consuming any stamina, making travel much faster and easier across Hyrule.

Glitched Sequence

1. Make sure you have at least one bow equipped and an arrow. 2. Hold 'ZL' (lock-on/shield) and then 'X' (jump) to perform a backflip. 3. Immediately after pressing 'X', press 'B' (cancel backflip) and then 'ZR' (draw bow) in very quick succession. The timing is precise. 4. If done correctly, Link will appear to be holding his bow while standing normally. He will also be able to sprint without consuming stamina. 5. To cancel the infinite sprint, perform any action that resets Link's state, such as climbing, swimming, using the paraglider, or taking damage.

Bomb Impact Launch (BIL) (Misc)

Utilizes remote bombs to propel Link high into the air or across long distances, allowing players to bypass obstacles, reach inaccessible areas, and travel quickly.

Glitched Sequence

1. Place a Square Remote Bomb on the ground. 2. Place a Round Remote Bomb directly on top of the Square Bomb. 3. Stand close to the stack of bombs (Link should ideally be on or directly next to them). 4. Equip a shield (hold 'ZL'). 5. Quickly detonate the Square Bomb, then immediately detonate the Round Bomb ('L' button to cycle and detonate). 6. If timed correctly, Link will be launched. Experiment with Link's position and detonation timing for different trajectories (e.g., jumping before detonation for higher launches, or specific timing for horizontal distance).

Infinite Arrows (Enemy Exploit) (Weapons)

Generate unlimited arrows without having to purchase or find them, by exploiting game mechanics related to enemies firing arrows.

Exploit Sequence

1. Find an enemy (such as a Bokoblin or Lizalfos) that shoots arrows. Ideally, find one that shoots multiple arrows per volley. 2. Equip a shield and stand in front of the enemy, allowing them to fire arrows at your shield. 3. The arrows fired by the enemy will stick into your shield or fall to the ground around you. 4. After the enemy has fired several arrows, walk over the arrows on the ground to pick them up. The arrows that stick to your shield will automatically be added to your inventory when you lower your shield or walk over them. 5. Repeat this process as many times as needed to accumulate arrows. This method is slow but reliable and costs nothing.

Every Zelda Amiibo Works (Misc)

Unlock the amiibo rune (Crysis Shrine on the Great Plateau), then every amiibo ever made — Zelda-themed or not — drops materials once per day. Zelda-themed ones drop CHESTS with exclusive gear.

Amiibo Rarity Facts (Tips)

All unique armor pieces are one-time unlocks — once you have them, chests switch to weapons/materials. Non-Zelda amiibo (Mario, Splatoon, etc.) only drop generic meat/fish/veggies. Scanning works once per amiibo per 24 hours; changing the Switch clock does NOT reliably reset it anymore.

From the game menu, select the amiibo rune (unlocked after completing the Crysis Shrine on the Great Plateau), then tap the amiibo to the NFC touchpoint. Each amiibo can be scanned once every 24 hours.
